As an intern for Playful Therapy Connections, I felt like the practice was an incredible collaborative unit. I got to experience a space that provided encouragement and value for everyone's perspectives, no matter their level of experience.

Laura Morlok was a spectacular support as a site supervisor and colleague. She constantly found relevant trainings for us to attend and even organized trainings for interns to co-lead. Her awareness and practice of social justice concepts challenged me to process my biases and truly define my values. I grew exponentially as a clinician, and I know I was able to gain the confidence and skills I have today from the strong foundation PTC provides its interns and clinicians.

Ikenna Lughna, MS, LGPC | PTC Intern Fall 2021 - Summer 2022 | Ikenna Gray Counseling Services

I wanted to share something with you from this past semester; I taught the first Queer History course offered by the college and the response from the students was amazing. I found myself relying on things I learned in my internship literally every class. Several students commented at the end of the semester how safe and seen they felt in our class, and the community we created. One student, […] wrote to me the last week of the semester to say, "In your class for once in my life I felt like I was supposed to be somewhere, wanted somewhere, and not an anomaly.” The email this student sent made me cry and was probably the best email/letter I have ever received.

That I was able to create an environment of felt safety speaks not only to what I learned throughout my counseling eduction but more specifically to what I learned at PTC and what I was able to practice. The class was wonderful, I looked forward to it every time and so did the students, and I believe you deserve some credit for that as well because even though I have wanted to teach this material for some time, I would not have been the right instructor for this course before my time at PTC.
