IF any of this sounds like you, we can help!
I’m wondering about my neurotype and want to explore more.
I know what my neurotype is and I want neurodiversity affirming care.
I’m struggling and need support.
I need a therapist who wants get to know the real me - without trying to change who I am.
I’m looking for help identifying tools and strategies that actually work for me.
Does it have to be so hard?
We are navigating a world built largely by, and for, neurotypical people. Where even neurotypical people can struggle.
On any given day, we may be faced with dozens of messages that tell us: this space is not for you.
As these messages build up over time, we can be left feeling anxious, lonely and disconnected.
This is why neurodiversity affirming therapy support is so important for our mental health.
what’s different about individual therapy at ptc?
Clinical Experience: PTC Therapists are committed to engaging in ongoing trainings and education that go beyond the “evidence-based practices” touted by neurotypical professionals as the “gold standard” for treating what they identify as “disorders” without including the voices of the individuals themselves. At PTC, we seek to learn from those who have lived experience, whether they are licensed professionals or not! We know how to look at the evidence-based practices, combine the affirming practices (or parts of these practices) with lived experience, and seek modifications and differences that truly help you feel supported.
Lived Experience: Therapists at PTC come in different flavors of neurospicy, just like our clients. Most of us are also self-proclaimed nerds and/or geeks and love bringing your special interests into sessions.
Individual therapy for neurodivergent and neurotypical adults at Playful Therapy Connections provides a space where you can connect with your therapist in the ways that are most natural for you without fear of being shamed, shushed or hurried along.
We do not ‘teach social skills’. Instead, we honor each person’s way of being by offering a supportive space where you can be yourself and explore the ways in which you want to show up in the world. Rather than providing a set curriculum intended to teach you how to mask, you are invited to bring in your own special interests, expertise and topics of choice to each session.
Our neurospicy licensed clinicians and clinical interns focus on building up your strengths and do not operate from a deficit-based model.
Therapy at PTC for adults who identify as Autistic / ADHD’rs / AuDHDr’s / anxious / depressed or who are simply looking for support with life’s ups and downs aims to help you:
explore
Explore your identity so that you can understand what does and doesn’t work for you and figure out the ways you want to show up in the world.
Understanding how ableism impacts your life and work against internalized ableism.
learn
Learn ways to manage daily stressors, anxiety and depression that work for you.
We aren’t going to be handing you a self-help workbook (unless you want one!) - instead we’ll take the time to walk through options and see which ones you like.
CElebrate
Celebrate your unique identity and neurotype.
Sure, we know it’s not all sunshine and puppies (no #ToxicPositivity here) - but it’s also not all doom and gloom.
Getting Started is Easy! The Details:

(Psst - hate talking on the phone? Yeah, us too. We can coordinate over email instead - just mention it in your questionnaire.)

Explore how individual therapy will help you meet your goals & get matched to a therapist.
If over the phone, this will be a 15 minute call with Maya (they/them), our New Client Coordinator, or Danni (she/her), our NCC assistant.
Maya or Danni will get your intake & weekly therapy sessions scheduled.

You’ll receive an email linking you to our online portal where you’ll fill out paperwork and provide payment information.
Virtual: You’ll receive a Google Meet invite with your unique telehealth link.

You’ll meet with your therapist for 45-60 minutes (depending on the clinician) to get to know one another, talk about goals and review practice policies.
5: weekly Sessions
Therapy always starts out at least 1x/week, typically for 45-60 minutes per session.
Sessions will be at the same recurring time each week, unless you and your therapist decide otherwise.
