Group Therapy: Caregiver Support

Caregiver Support Group

Virtual Therapy Groups for Caregivers

Maryland | Virginia | DC | DELAWARE | PSYPACT® states

Does Caregiving have to be so hard?

Supporting our neurodivergent children as the navigate a world build largely by, and for, neurotypical people is a roller coaster.

We try to support our children with love and care and often feel unsupported ourselves. People might criticize, question, and misunderstand.

This leaves us feeling alone, confused, and self-critical even though we are doing our very best.

How can we help?

These groups welcomes caregivers of neurodivergent children to meet in a safe, therapist-guided space. Based in the relational neurosciences, this will be a place to come together to learn ways to support your children that increase attachment and connection.

Caregivers will work together to decide what they’d like to cover in the group, with support and psychoeducation from the therapist. For example, they might seek guidance from other parents and the therapist, find comfort in shared experiences, and/or delve deeper into understanding the strengths and vulnerabilities of their neurodivergent children.

Therapists will ensure caregivers feel accepted and welcome in exploring their own emotions and experiences navigating their children’s neurodivergence, while always keeping in mind the strengths and vulnerabilities of the neurodivergent children.

connect

Groups offer a space for positive, affirming & safe connections with other caregivers and therapists who understand.

Exploring your emotional world alongside other parents who get it (and won’t laugh at your struggles or questions) is a powerful tool for healing & change.

learn

Effectively absorb & practice new coping skills through shared interests, conversation & media.

Small group content is customized to match the learning styles of group members.

SUPPORT

Along with supporting caregivers, these groups will give you tools for supporting your Autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, PDA, anxious, depressed, gifted, learning disabled, and otherwise neurodivergent children of all ages from a place of connection and care.
