clinical COUNSELOR, LEVEL 3

director of community outreach

Serving Maryland, South Carolina & DC Clients

I am a licensed clinical professional counselor in Maryland, licensed professional counselor in South Carolina, and a licensed graduate professional counselor in DC, offering virtual therapy and working towards certification as a registered play therapist, under the supervision of Laura Morlok, LCPC, LPC, RPT-S.

During my graduate studies, I was a clinical intern right here at Playful Therapy Connections! I worked with neurodivergent children and families in individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing play therapy and digital play therapy.

Prior to joining PTC, I was a clinical intern at The George Washington University's Community Counseling Center, working with mostly adult & young adults experiencing difficulties with anxiety, depression and other mental health concerns.

What does my experience mean for you as my client? It means I truly believe in the power of play and am fully invested in genuinely getting to know you and your child.

I'm ready to help you and your child navigate big feelings and offer support during the challenging experiences that come with being human.

It also means I have experience, training and creativity to connect in our virtual space and a passion to continually learn more about how I can best support the families that I work with!

When not practicing therapy, I'm spending time with my family (my husband and extended family that live near me). My husband is a really good cook, so oftentimes we are sharing and hosting meals and trying new food. Other times, I'm probably trying out a different hobby or teaching myself a new skill.

Right now, I'm trying to teach myself calligraphy, but in the past I have tried knitting, painting, ceramics--really anything to tap into my creative side!

I believe that individual differences are amazing and worth celebrating, and I'm excited to learn more about your and your child's experiences and human-ness.

Frequently Asked Questions…

  • What is your favorite color?

    • Red! It's always been my favorite actually--even when I was a kid.

  • What is your favorite book?

    • Probably The Phantom Tollbooth. It’s a bit of an older book, but I've always loved the play on words!

  • What Harry Potter house are you in?

    • My guess is Ravenclaw, but I'd be interested to see what the sorting hat had to say...

  • Do you have any plants?

    • I have a few house plants and an herb garden. I have one very special house plant that I received as a clipping from a plant that grew from a clipping of a different plant. Essentially, my house plant is a 3rd generation housewarming gift that I plan to continue!

  • Do you know any other languages?

    • I'm conversational in American Sign Language. I've spent quite a bit of time volunteering with and learning from Deaf/HH individuals and others in the Deaf community!

  • Why did you decide to be a therapist?

    • There were a lot of early influences from people I met growing up, listening to their stories and hearing about various influences in their lives. It sparked my curiosity about the human brain and what it really means to be human.

    • Watching the impact that therapy had on the lives of those around me brought me to the field and then as I began to learn more about becoming a therapist and taking classes in the counseling field, I fell in love with it!

    • My passion for counseling just continued to grow and now I have the amazing opportunity to not learn from those I work with, but also utilize my skills, experience and creativity to help support children and families - which is so awesome!
